Between 1962 and 1978 most of my photos were developed into 35mm slides, which were outstanding but required a lot of preparation to display the images on a large screen, using an electric slide projector. The end-result was that the photos were rarely displayed. Fast forward to 2018, and I sent 660 slides to DigMyPics to be converted to a digital format. The result is excellent. I am particularly impressed to find that some of the images that I thought were of marginal clarity have been enhanced by the conversion process. For example: Images of a Mexican sarape weaver which contains various shades of gray wool, now has new life because the different shades of color are now much clearer. Images of bullfights taken by an ordinary 35mm camera are impaired by the reflective sunlight on the bull ring, but the digital images enhance the clarity of the toro and the toreador (to the extent possible). A number of the images on the slides were faded by excess light. After conversion to digital format, some of them were greatly enhanced. I made one mistake. I neglected to order a thumbnail album to serve as a "Table of Contents" of the discs. The thumbnail album is a "must" for this type of DVD. Fortunately, it was a mistake that was easily corrected by a phone call.

We sent all of our old photos in the old slide trays. Digmypics kept us fully posted as they processed our slides and the final selection of which slides we wanted to keep was painless. Everything was returned along with the digital pictures on a cd. I was able to quickly copy the digital files to my hard drive. It was joy to see some of our old family pictures that I have not seen in 45 years since our slide projector broke.

After our parents passed away, we had tons of photos and slides to go through. We knew this would be an insurmountable task for us to scan them so we would all have copies, so based upon reviews, and the added bonus of having our priceless photos remain in the US, we sent about 1,000 photos to Digmypics. We were all very pleased with the service and the outcome, especially given that we had so many different sized pictures as well as full album pages (from which I was unable to remove the photos). We sent a second batch too, and are in the process of organizing slides to have them scanned. Each sibling will be able to have a complete set. We are very happy!!

Our decades-long photographic legacy is mostly on 35mm slides. We did some scanning ourselves with a scanner we bought. We sent about 100 slides to digmypics as a test for converting our entire library. The process and status updates were just as they described. The results are significantly better than our own. We'll be sending them the rest (as long as each batch is done just as well). It took about a month from sending our slides to receiving the results. It seems long but if we hadn't sent them in, they'd still be sitting on a shelf. A month is much less than never. Recommended. (I have nothing to do with digmypics or its staff except as a paying customer. I picked them out of several outfits I found on the web based on their web sites.)

To start with the end product of the digital images are excellent and the enhancements to the basic digital that come with the service improved the images especially with the older photos. I have been very happy with the service. The people at digmypics were friendly, patient with my questions and met my deadlines. The emails letting me know where we were in the process, how they were getting paid and when and the shipping to them went very well. The pricing is fair. This is not the least expensive firm and I liked that they spelled out what you get for your money. Having the work done in the US was also a bonus and added to the quality of the experience. I spent time selecting digmypics to provide me with the ability to store my family's photo gallery stretching back five generations and I would trust them again.

Sadly, in todays world of technology, customer service seems to have become less important to corporations. However, digmypics continues in the view the customer as an important part of their process. Their communications with the customer, their ability to accommodate the customer, and their attention to the customer is exemplary. I am thrilled to find a resource who has real people to talk with, a resource with customer service people who speak understandable english and a resource who takes the customer seriously. Bravo!

Thank you, Digipics for a great job with our super 8 films. You helped my family recover lost memories and good times growing up. We knew some of our films were damaged but you managed to bring them back to life so we could at least get some very nice still pictures from them. Others had a fresh newer look that we appreciated. We got out the popcorn and remembered happy days with your help. We are grateful!

I had found some very old negatives among some family photos. They were very faded and in different formats. I was pretty nervous sending my kids’ childhood photos away to be scanned, I mean, what if they lose or damage those priceless memories? (By definition I had no digital backup of course). I was so pleasantly surprised and delighted by this company’s care and professionalism that I’m having them do a slew more. I tell everyone I can about my delight with DigMyPics because they are great!

Two years ago I compared DMP against another large scanning company, sending a test batch of slides to each company, swapping the test orders and sending them out again so each company was tested twice using exactly the same slides. DMP had consistently better scans, fewer or none scan line artifacts, better tones and detail in deep shadow and highlights, truer color correction and saturation, and slightly better detail in the jpegs. I also compared against a Nikon 5000, an OpticFilm 820, a $100 USB slide digitizer, and re-photographing the slides with a DSLR and macro lens. DMP came out as the best choice for high quality, affordable cost, and time on my part of the project. During two years we have sent 41 orders in about 20 shipments to DMP, totalling almost 5,000 slides, some of the slides up to 60 years old. None of them had to be rescanned. I'm happy with all the scans. You can buy your own slide scanner or digitizer, but if there are many slides to scan you also need to consider the time to check each one for dust and blow it clean, set the color conversion for normal or Kodachrome, rotate or flip over each slide, color-correct old or faded slides, and reposition the scanning rectangle whenever the slide isn't in the same place in the frame. A couple of tips - read the info on the DMP site about scanning and choose the resolution you need, or ask them. Package your slides well for shipment. Use a small box so they stay stacked together and repackage into a larger box for the entire order. If they're ancient or valuable you could scan them on a cheaper scanner yourself as insurance against the slides being lost or damaged in shipping, although no problems occurred in those 20 shipments to DMP from Canada.
