Shopping Around for a Scanning Service
|
Getting your photos digitized to CD or DVD is a great way to preserve, share, and
enjoy them today and tomorrow. Finding the right way to get it done is an
important first step and one that shouldn't be taken lightly.
Your photos are an important, irreplaceable part of you. An historical
record of important events you've shared or achievements you've accomplished.
You're likely to have a lot of questions and concerns. Below are some of the
concerns that many people have expressed to us along with the strategies we've taken
for easing those concerns.
Where will the work be performed?
Will you ship my photos somewhere else?
Some companies will send your photos to a low wage country to have the actual scanning
work performed. Nothing against those countries, but do you want your irreplaceable
photos shipped there by a third party and out of your control? It's not
just that your photos travel overseas, but how they travel there. They may
say the use FedEx or UPS and even put those companies' logos on their websites
but that's only for transit within the USA. The international transit
and passage through customs is often handled by much cheaper freight forwarders
under names most people have never heard of.
Rest assured that DigMyPics never ships your photos anywhere else and that all work
is done right here in Arizona by professional photographers and artists.
Who will be handling my photos?
Does the company hire real imaging professionals? Are they well trained? Is their
work scrutinized and held to a set of standards? DigMyPics! hires only imaging
professionals with college degrees in photography and the arts. We pay competitive
wages and offer benefits like health, dental, and employer matching 401(k).
These offerings allow us to hire the best people while giving opportunities to people
who want to work in photography. We invest heavily in training new hires to
our high standards and we have a strict set of policies and checks to make sure
our standards for quality are maintained. Read about us
to learn who we are.
Is the price fair and will I get what I expect?
If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Unfortunately, there
are many ways to convolute the prices for this type of service. Some service providers
try to lead you in with a low price and then charge extra for necessary services
like color correction, image rotation, or digital
ICE. They also may hit you up for more money later with hidden charges or
require you to buy a hard drive while telling you they have no media charges.
We don't have any hidden charges and everything is included to make your photos
presentation ready. Our pricing is clearly stated on our
pricing page and you can get an instant
quote without having to give us any information about yourself.
Our pricing is easy to understand and its based on quantity and resolution. You
can't choose a scanning service on price alone any more than you can buy a car on
price alone. There are lots of factors to consider. If you need help understanding
everything, just give us a call. Our phone number appears at the top right
hand side of every page.
Beware of the FIRE SALE! New companies with little or no experience
or companies taking their last gasp will try to get your business by offering their
services at highly discounted, below cost prices. The price may sound enticing
but understand why the price is set so low. The "Going out of business
sale" may be a reasonable risk for some purchases but not for something
as irreplaceable as your photos.
Digitizing my photos should be a one time event.
You should never need to have it done again because it wasn't done right
the first time. We stand behind our service and let you view your images immediately
upon completion right in your web browser. If you're not satisfied for any
reason, we can take care of it right away, while we still have your photos . We keep your high resolution photos for 14days after we ship your photos back, so you have sometime to look through everything.
If I do have problems, how will I resolve them?
No person or company is perfect. Mistakes happen and sometimes things go wrong.
It's a fact of life. How will the company you select deal with errors that might
occur? What do they do to prevent errors from happening in the first place?
What leverage do they provide for dispute resolution like Better Business Bureau
mediation? We've developed a sophisticated system for tracking and managing
orders and photos. Our robust, proven system works with us to help prevent
errors from happening in the first place. Our phone number is published on
the top of every page of our website. Our technicians and management team are here
to help. We are active members in the Better Business Bureau Online Reliability
Program. Visit our Testimonials
page to see the kind of feedback we get from our customers.
How long will it take to get my photos back?
Check the turn around time on the company you choose. Some of the smaller
companies shut down to take vacations or days off. Make sure you don't plan
on sending your photos to them during one of those down times. Also, make sure
they have enough scanners and a few extra spares. Be careful of exaggerated claims,
too. You don't want your photos waiting around while they get their only scanner
fixed. We have enough staff that vacations won't impact our schedules and we keep
several spare scanners on hand. Our Turn Status is updated based on
our current workload and posted on every page on our site in the left hand column
just below our BBBOnline seal.
Browse through the information on our website and visit a few of our competitors,
too. Your decision will likely be based on an array of factors like the ones
described above. Also, please feel free to call us if you still have concerns.
Our friendly staff will be glad to hear from you.
We're looking forward to making you smile all over again!
