Photo Scanning Services
What Is Included in Our Service?
We include what some companies consider the "gold" level of
service as our base standard. As you see
on the Pricing charts to the right, we can offer you a high
quality scan of almost any kind of photo you throw at us. We
can scan your prints at 300dpi or 600dpi (see our
Resolving
Resolution page for more info on how to choose your scanning
resolution). We also crop to the edge of your photos, rotate,
and perform basic color correction on each photo - all included
in the scanning price. You have your choice of
TIFF or JPEG file formats
and you have your choice of CDs or DVD data disks to archive
your photos. Your first disk is free, each additional is $6.
Our burning process lets you include your name and a title
for each project to be printed on your disks, to help you stay
organized.
Who Is Working On Your Photos?
Our scanning technicians are proud to uphold our "white glove
standard". This means they not only wear white lint free gloves
when handling your photos, but adhere to our strict internal
processes for loss prevention, gentle handling, and organization.
Our Post Production Department will perform color correction
on each scanned image using the industry standard Abode Photoshop.
They perform quality control checks on all scanning orders,
including at least 2 reviews over each one of your images. Also,
all of our employees are college trained artists and photographers,
so they really know their stuff.
The Scanning
Equipment We Use?
Scanning prints is more difficult than it sounds. The design
of all flatbed scanners makes producing high quality digital images
quickly very challenging. They are not only slow, but because
you place each photo on a piece of glass and move it around
to get it into position, the glass gets dirty and even scratched.
If you don't clean the glass between each scan, the dirt and
dust left behind by the previous photos will appear on all subsequent
photos and scratches never go away so they also appear on all
photos even if you clean the glass. Clearly you can't do any
kind of high quality, large volume work on a flatbed unless
you're willing to invest a tremendous amount of time and man
power. When selecting the equipment necessary to scan prints,
we needed speed to keep the costs down but we also needed to
produce a clean, crisp, high quality image. We ultimately decided
that we needed a special piece of equipment designed specifically
for the task of scanning prints. Our solution wouldn't be found
at OfficeMax or CompUSA. Our proprietary solution involves custom
hardware and software that is unique to DigMyPics! and it solves
all of the problems of a flatbed scanner while producing a quality
image unmatched by any other scanning solution we've seen. Some
oversized and delicate photos can not be scanned by these devices
and will need to be scanned on a high quality flatbed scanner
(we frequently use Epson brand, but we do a lot of market testing
on scanners, so if we find a newer model of another brand works
better, we'll upgrade until the next better model one comes out).

Shopping Around?
Shopping Around? Shopping Around is a good thing!
The more educated you are, the more you will know what to expect
